A Heritage Commission is a valuable tool for towns to use in the management and protection of their historical and cultural resources. Heritage Commission activities are broad, but non-regulatory, and are determined by each town in regard to their particular needs. A Heritage Commission can advise local Boards and Commissions, conduct inventories, provide education on historic preservation, administer information on historic resources, and serve as a resource for revitalization efforts.
At the March 12, 2024 Town Election the residents voted to establish a Heritage Commission to advise on the use and protection of historic, cultural and natural resources pursuant to RSA 673:1, II, consisting of five citizen members and up to five alternate members to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. One commission member shall be a member of the Board of Selectmen.
